The school caters for children from Nursery Stage to Year 13.  GEMS Wellington Al Khail follows the National Curriculum for England which is recognized by universities and colleges around the world internationally. The curriculum provides a student assessment and evaluation program which helps students to work towards their level of attainment appropriate to their age and capability and also emphasizes critical thinking, creativity, planning and other skills. 

 Early Years Centre Nursery provides a child-centered, play-based learning environment for children aged 2-3 years old. The nursery follows a Reggio Emilia-inspired approach, focusing on exploration, creativity, and early language development. It emphasizes strong partnerships with parents and seamless transitions into the Foundation and Primary stages. The curriculum is tailored to each child's needs, promoting independence, social skills, and a love of learning.

The Foundation Stage at GEMS Wellington Academy - Al Khail provides a nurturing and stimulating environment for children aged 3 to 5. The curriculum follows the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework, focusing on personal, social, and emotional development, communication, language, and physical development. The Primary Academy offers an integrated curriculum based on the English National Curriculum and the UAE Ministry of Education Curriculum. The curriculum is designed to ensure a smooth transition to secondary education, with personalized learning, real-life connections, and problem-solving opportunities. The goal is to inspire students to shape the future while achieving yearly curriculum standards.

The Secondary Academy  offers a supportive environment for students aged 11-16, focusing on academic excellence and personal growth. The curriculum prepares students for GCSE or ASDAN exams, with pathways for further education, including A Level or BTEC options. The school emphasizes independent learning, critical thinking, and leadership, with strong partnerships between staff, students, and parents. The inclusive and outward-looking approach ensures that every student can thrive academically and personally.

The GEMS Wellington teaching faculty are trained and experienced in the UK and are highly qualified in offering the British curriculum. Furthermore, the school employs digital technology to enhance the quality of teaching and learning. All students from Year 3 onwards use iPads to support their education, whenever appropriate and all staff is trained to enhance their teaching with the help of a range of apps. Fees

New Students Application Fee: AED 525

This fee is:

  • Refundable if the school does not offer the student a place, unless, the child’s registration is carried forward to the following academic year.
  • Non-refundable if the school offers the student a place but the student chooses not to take it.
  • Not deductible from the total tuition fees to be paid if the student is offered and accepts a place.

Registration Deposit

This deposit is payable after the student has been offered a place and parents have accepted the offer. The registration deposit is 10% of the total tuition fees and is deductible from the total tuition fees for the academic year. Please note, this is a non-refundable deposit.  

Existing Student Re-registration Deposit:This deposit is payable at the time of re-enrolment to guarantee a place for the following academic year. The Re-registration Deposit is 5% of the total tuition fees, and is deductible from the total tuition fees for the academic year. Please note, this is a non-refundable deposit.

Payment of Fees

  1. The Application Fee is payable at the time of the online registration, and is charged to process the application of new students. Once the child receives a formal offer from the school, the registration deposit is charged to enrol the child and secure the seat.
  2. If new students enrol at the school during the course of the academic year, the school can charge tuition fees starting from the beginning of the month of enrolment.
  3. Schools can collect annual tuition fees in three instalments, due before the start of each term. The first term’s payment will be 40%, the second 30% and the third term 30% of annual tuition fees.

Payment Method:All forms of payment methods are accepted and can be made in person at GEMS Wellington Academy - Al Khail, or by wire transfer directly to the school bank account. Information regarding the wire transfers and online payments can be found on the side column of this page.

Refund

  1. In the cases of both existing and new students, the registration and re-registration deposit will not be refunded unless there are extenuating circumstances. These circumstances include, but are not limited to, relocation to another country/Emirate or any other unforeseen circumstances.
  2. In the case of refund, the school fees will be calculated as follows:
    • Tuition fees paid prior to the beginning of the academic year are refundable and only the registration / re-registration fees will be deducted.
    •  If the student was enrolled in the school for two weeks or less, a month’s fees will be deducted.
    • If the student was enrolled in the school for a period ranging between two weeks and one month, two month's fees will be deducted.
    • If the student was enrolled in the school for more than a month, the full terms fees will be deducted.
  3. The refund will be calculated from the start of the term and the date of the official request by the parent stating the intent of withdrawal and not from the date when the student was absent. Being on the school register counts as days in school.
  4. If paid with credit card or online, monies will be refunded back to the credit card. Cash payments will be refunded via cheque.

Admission Overview

At GEMS Wellington Academy - Al Khail we follow the National Curriculum for England and Wales and the academic year runs from August to June. Children can be admitted during the academic year if a place becomes available subject to KHDA guidelines. GEMS Wellington Academy provides an outstanding education for children aged 2 – 18 years.

Admissions Process

Parents who wish for their children to be registered at GEMS Wellington Academy - Al Khail must complete an online application form and pay a non-refundable fee of AED525. Application fees are accepted in the form of AED cheques, cash, credit/debit cards, or bank transfers. Click here for more information about the admissions process and required documentation.

Entry Criteria

GEMS Wellington Academy - Al Khail prides itself on an admission policy that does not discriminate against any child or family. All children are welcome to apply to GEMS Wellington Academy, regardless of nationality, ethnicity or religion.

Foundation/Primary/Secondary reports from previous schools/nurseries will be reviewed by the academic teaching staff and if deemed necessary, may be followed by an assessment or interview.

Transfer Letter

After your child has received an offer to join GEMS Wellington Academy - Al Khail we request the Transfer Certificate from your previous school.

The original Transfer Certificate must be on official school letterhead. This form must be typed, signed by the Principal and show an official school stamp. 

The Transfer Certificate of students from schools located in any country other than Australia, Canada, Europe, New Zealand, USA and UAE, MUST be in English or Arabic and attested by:

  • Ministry of Education
  • Ministry of Foreign Affairs
  • UAE Embassy

Attestation is required for GCC countries from the Ministry of Education only.

The Transfer Certificates within Dubai Schools are done electronically and other Emirates transfers still need to be attested by Ministry of Education only.
