If you have a young family to educate and live in Dubai, you are very fortunate for more than geographic reasons. Opened in September 2005, GEMS Royal Dubai School offers an exceptional quality of education from Foundation Stage to Year 6. We offer the National Curriculum for England, taught by British trained and experienced teachers who have been chosen for their ability to create a motivational, child-centred environment. This has led to the school being recognised as ‘Outstanding’ in all categories by BSO (British Schools Overseas).

We strongly value links with parents at GEMS Royal Dubai School and work hard to develop effective home-school partnerships. This includes regular communication and times for us to meet and listen to each other as well as an exciting mix of performances, exhibitions, competitions and sporting events.

From the start of the academic year 2024-25, RDS will be launching its new secondary provision with the introduction of Year 7 in August 2024, followed by Year 8 at the start of the 2025-26 academic year with our new secondary campus opening in the summer of 2026, conveniently located just a few minutes’ walk from our current school.

The intention is for RDS to eventually become an all-through school, serving students from Foundation Stage all the way up to Year 13, subject to final approval from KHDA and the relevant authorities. While the new Secondary campus is designed and constructed to the highest standard, Year 7 and 8 students will begin their senior school journey within the existing RDS building. By the time the secondary campus is complete in 2026, the new site will open with Years 7, 8, and 9 in place.

To complete the registration of your child please contact the Admissions Secretary to arrange the submission of the supporting documents and Registration Fee, quoting your Enquiry Number. Supporting documents include a copy of the applicant's UAE ID card or Passport if the UAE ID is not issued, Copy of the parent/sponsor UAE ID card, applicant's birth certificate, current immunisation record, 4 recent passport photographs, Nursery reports (for admission to Foundation Stage), Last two years school reports (for admission to Year 1 to Year 6), Original Transfer Certificate and a non-refundable Registration fee of AED 525.

The admission policy at GEMS Royal does not discriminate against any child or family. An interview is conducted for every child and their parents prior to entry and each child must take an age-related placement test to ensure that he or she is prepared for the high quality education at GEMS school.

The offer of a place is not solely on the entrance test alone and parents should provide the most recent copy of their child's school report when submitting an application form. Places can sometimes be offered against the two latest reports from the child's existing school only if they have English National Curriculum assessments included. If it is difficult to make an accurate assessment from these, students are asked to complete a placement test at the School.
