Deira International School is an International School following the National Curriculum for England for students from Foundation Stage to Year 11 and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program and the IB Career-related Programme for students from Year 12 to Year 13.

Deira International School follows the English National curriculum that is adapted for both the local and international contexts. Senior students take IGCSE exams in year 11 of the Cambridge Board and move into the approved International Baccalaureate Diploma Program (IBDP) in years 12 and 13. These highly respected and world-renowned qualifications enable students to enter university worldwide.

DIS has state-of-the-art facilities integrated with technology which reflects DIS objectives in providing students with a broad and balanced education. In 2018, a new Sixth Form Area, which features a common room, a study room, and a kitchen-dining area, was added to the Secondary school. The facilities include an indoor Discovery Centre, Play area for Primary students, Interactive whiteboards, temperature-controlled swimming pools, air-conditioned sports halls, multi-purpose hall, Netball and basketball courts, Cricket net, rugby pitches, FIFA-approved football pitches, well-equipped ICT department, Music rooms, well-resourced dedicated libraries for Primary and Secondary students, school cafeterias, Learning area for Early Years both indoor and outdoor, Science facilities, DT, and Computing facilities, Art rooms, Drama studio, auditorium, shaded recreational zones, and well-equipped playground.

All students from Year 1 to Year 9 study Arabic as an additional or first language depending on nationality and mother tongue. Key stage 1 (FS1 and FS2) follows the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum (EYFS). The transition from early years to Key Stage 1 is essential and every child is provided with a supporting program in the new environment. The broad and balanced curricular provided by the DIS cultivate a love for learning by nurturing individual strengths and interests.

Key Stage 2 begins by encouraging children to be academically inquisitive and responsible. DIS offers an innovative curriculum based on cross-curricular planning. This includes all core topics that emphasize the holistic approach of developing the whole child. By the end of Year 9, students will opt for IGCSE subjects. Key Stage 4 prepares students for external IGCSE and GCSE examinations. These examinations are internationally recognized and prepare students for IB and university programs.

Extracurricular activities at Deira International School include Football, Rugby, Netball, Touch Rugby, Fitness, Rugby 7s, Rounders, Athletics, Cricket, Swimming, and Basketball.

Fees

Please note the fees do not include school uniform, meals in cafeteria and transportation fee.

If a student is accepted, a non-refundable but deductible, Booking Fee of AED 3,000 per student should be paid and further documents must be submitted.  The Booking Fee will be deducted from the first term fees.

The Registration Fee will be deducted from the first term tuition fee. The Registration Fee will not be refunded if the student chooses not to take the offered place.

Admissions to Deira International School can be made at any time, although there are cut-off dates during the year, which are designated by the Ministry of Education.

The following documentation can be uploaded within the online application, emailed to the school’s Registrar or handed in at the Admissions Office.

Required Documents:

  • 1 copy of the applicant’s passport, including their UAE visa if available.
  • 1 copy of the applicant’s birth certificate.
  • 1 copy of both sides of the applicant’s Emirates ID card if available.
  • 2 passport photo.
  • 1 copy of the father’s (or sponsor’s) passport, including their UAE visa if
    available.
  • 1 copy of both sides of the father’s (or sponsor’s) Emirates ID card if
    available.
  • 1 complete copy of the applicant’s latest end of year report as well as the
    subsequent mid-year report (if applicable).
  • 1 copy of the applicant’s immunisation report
  • Transfer Certificate once accepted (please see below link form for attestation requirements)
  • AED 500 Application fee (non-refundable)
