American University in Dubai was founded in 1995 and is a private culturally and academically inclusive institution in Dubai that provides an American-style higher education. The University is located next to Dubai Media City, Palm Islands, and Dubai Internet City.

The University offers a variety of bachelor's degree programs including Arts and Sciences, Communication, Business Administration, Education, Art and Design, Engineering and Architecture. American University in Dubai has a world-class with multi-purpose student facilities. The busy campus features Academic wings, faculty and student housing, administrative offices, indoor and outdoor sports facilities, classrooms, offices, food-courts, a 900-seat auditorium, labs, and studios. AUD clubs and societies allow students to develop leadership skills while pursuing personal interests.

The fitness facilities at AUD includes a Greenfield consisting of a soccer pitch, 1300 ft track, and seating capacity for 300 spectators, a large outdoor swimming pool, 2 basketball/volleyball courts, 3 tennis courts, indoor stadium with seating capacity of 2500, that can be converted into volleyball or basketball courts, 2 squash courts, Dance room and a gymnasium.

The academic wings of the University are divided into various schools and departments, with 15 buildings spread around the campus and conveniently located near to the academic or leisure facilities such as sports, restaurants, libraries and a multi-faceted student center.

The School Of Architecture, Art and Design offer a collection of fully accredited Bachelor Degree programs in the fields of Interior Design, Architecture, and Visual Communication. The programs include Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch), Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Interior Design, and Visual Communication, Minor in Architecture, Autodesk Certified Professional, Minor in Visual Communication, and Minor In Interior Design. The facilities include 21 learning spaces including labs, studios, and exhibition areas, 4 PC digital studios, Model and furniture workshops, Fabrication lab, design center, and printing center, Graphic design, studio classrooms, Film photography lab, printmaking lab, and media suites.

The School Of Arts and Sciences offers general education in science, language, the humanities, mathematics, and social sciences. The programs include Bachelor of Arts (B.A.I.S.) in International Studies, Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Psychology and Certificate in Middle Eastern Studies. The facilities include 36 classrooms, Specialty physics laboratory with ten workstations, 4 computer labs, and an academic support center.

Mohammed Bin Rashid School for Communication offers Bachelor of Communication and Information Studies (BCIS) and Master of Arts (MA) in Innovation and Leadership in Contemporary Media. The school features a fully equipped and soundproofed TV studio and control room with lighting, vision, three cameras, lighting console, audio mixers, and a multi-viewer screen, 2 Mac computer, six editing suites, CISCO TelePresenc 3210 in the classroom, surround sound system and a screening room with a high-definition projector.

The School Of Business Administration offers Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), Master of Business Administration (MBA), IAA Certificate in Marketing Communications, Certificate in Management Accounting and Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA). The facilities include 12 classrooms, 3 computer labs, student lounge, and 4 theater-style classrooms, conference room, Stock trading room, AUD-IBM Center of Excellence for Smarter Logistics, an 18-seat boardroom and classrooms for lectures, using IBM cloud services along with access to labs for collaborative projects.

The School Of Engineering offers Bachelor of Science degree programs in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, and Electrical Engineering, Master of Science (M.S.C.M.) in Construction Management, Minor in Environmental Engineering and Minor in Computer Science. The school features Physics lab, Computer labs, fully equipped workshop, Electrical engineering labs, Civil engineering labs, and Mechanical engineering labs.

The school of Education offers Master of Education (M.Ed.) and Professional Teaching Certificate programs. The facilities include Education innovation lab, reading library and resources.
