AISA offers education from Kindergarten to Grade 12. It was the first school to offer the International Baccalaureate Diploma in the UAE and later became the first school in Abu Dhabi to be authorized to offer the IB Primary Years Program (PYP).  In keeping with local regulations, the Secondary School is gender segregated.  

American International School following the American Curriculum for students from KG to Grade 12. AISA also offers the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program (IBDP) and the IB Primary Years Program (IBPYP). American International School is co-educational in Elementary and gender-separated in secondary.

The American International School was established in 1995 with a view to providing high-quality US education to local and expatriate people in Abu Dhabi, based on an International Curriculum and American standards. AISA students benefit from excellent athletics and a variety of extracurricular activities. It is the first school in the UAE to offer the IB Diploma program and later became the first school to offer the IB PYP program in Abu Dhabi. In a safe, multicultural environment AISA offers an International curriculum that encourages critical global thinkers to take responsibility for their society.

Students from KG1 to Grade 5 follow the IB Primary Years Program (IB PYP) which is a transdisciplinary and inquiry-based learning program. The PYP program is aligned to the Common Core standards in English, Arts, and Mathematics and AERO standards for science and social studies. In addition, students also learn Arabic and cultural courses and attend specialist classes such as Physical Education, Arts, and technology.

Middle School follows the Common Core States Standards (CCSS) from the US and focuses on core subjects such as English, Math, Humanities, and Science. An inquiry-based learning method is adopted for Maths and Science and students develop critical thinking, cooperative learning, and problem-solving skills. Lessons and activities are technology integrated and classrooms are equipped with Smartboards. In addition, AISA offers art, music, Physical Education, Information Technology, French and Drama along with Arabic and Islamic Studies. High school students can choose from the IB Diploma program or the US High School Diploma program.

The American International School has a well-resourced library with extensive learning resources to enhance the learning process. The school offers a range of Sports activities which include Soccer, Basketball, Track and Field, Volleyball, Tennis, Badminton, Cross Country, and Swimming. The Performing and Visual Arts program at the school helps develop students become creative, analytical and confident individuals. The courses offered at AISA include Ceramics, Art, Computer Assisted Art, Drawing and Painting, Art, Guitar, Piano, Music, Drama, and after-school clubs such as rock band, choir, art classes, and middle theater production.
